Social media platforms are constantly changing. The pace is so fast that even the best marketers sometimes fail to acknowledge and adapt to the latest updates. LinkedIn or the world`s largest professional networking platform has also introduced some new features recently. Here is an overview of the three new LinkedIn features to watch:
1. Native Videos
In August 2017, LinkedIn introduced the so-called LinkedIn videos. Before users could embed a link to a video published on an outside platform like Youtube, for example. But now LinkedIn wants to keep users longer on their platform so they are now encouraged to record a video inside LinkedIn. Wondering how to start recording?
“In the LinkedIn mobile app, look for the share box at the top of the feed (iOS) or the post button (Android) and tap on the video icon. You can record a video in the app, or upload something you recorded earlier”, according to LinkedIn`s announcement of the new feature.
2. Career Advice
More than 80% of professionals on LinkedIn have said they either want to have a mentor or become a mentor for others, as LinkedIn writes. Nevertheless, what might be difficult is to find/start being a mentor. With this in mind, the LinkedIn network launched a new feature that helps connect members across the network with the goal to encourage them to be mentors for each other. The new service is called Career Advice and helps users who want to change career paths or seek advice on how to advance in their industry. Plus, this way users can connect with leading industry professionals.
3. Active Status
Why is the newly introduced active status on LinkedIn important? Finding new career opportunities and professional connections usually starts with a conversation. Whether it is sending a quick note to a friend or introducing yourself to your potential new employer, actively talking with people is an advantage. However, finding the right moment to start a conversation can be a bit tricky. That is why LinkedIn made it possible for users to see who is online. Users who are active are marked with a green dot. So, watch their status next time you approach someone on the social media network.
These features are only small part of the changes on LinkedIn. Check out their blog, what they have been doing recently and how to benefit from the changes.
